Websites
Dennis Kam
Composer, conductor, teacher (1942–2018) · catalogue of works and archive
The website for the work of a composer who can no longer tell it himself: scores to download, listening examples, interviews, texts – and a guide to the music, chapter by chapter.
The question
How does a life's work stay accessible once the composer is gone – for musicians who want to play it and for everyone who wants to understand it?
The way
Two paths through the same material. The catalogue orders chronologically and leads to score and recording. The guide tells the story: the early years, the path to Less Is More, the major works, an epilogue – online and as a PDF. Both come together in the Catalogue de ligatures on TYPO3.
Why it holds
Scores are one click away. Whoever is new to the music starts with the guide; whoever wants to perform it starts with the catalogue. The site carries the work on without anyone having to tend it daily.
